Caselulla: (52nd and 9th Ave)

I couldn't ask for a better more relaxing romanic evening than the one I get every time I walk into this hells kitchen wine and cheese bar. Also the owner of Elsewhere Brian has found a way to make this place incredibly inviting with the perfect amount of cheese knowledge for any cheese eating connoisseur to be more than satisfied. Many times related to Artisanal, but in my opinion they are not even in the same league of food eating experiences.

When you go I suggest allowing your fromage to choose your cheese plate tasting. For a more particular pallet ensure to tell you waiter/waitress any cheeses you don't like, or if you are looking for a sweet/savory tasting. For your appetizer I would be sure to try the petit burrata. Burrata is a creamier more pungent tasting mozzarella that is paired with pistachio cream, roasted tomatoes, and of course the ever so important taste of bacon all placed delicately on top of a perfectly toasted baquette. If you enjoy something spicy maybe the stuffed peppadew peppers should be experienced. For a lighter taste of what Caselulla has to offer the ricotta crostini with a creamy ricotta cheese topped with lemon zest and honey served on a sweet crostini is a perfect start to your evening. Once you have enjoyed your appetizer your cheese plate will arrive with a perfect explanation of each pairing the cheeses origin. From mildest to strongest enjoy your cheese with and without the suggested pairing. Once you feel you are full and maybe getting close to the shakes there is still desert to enjoy, from the turtle sundae, or the chocolate cake covered in fresh cream table side you cant go wrong with any desert chosen  at Caselulla. If you are looking for a small bite or not a sweets person like myself the goat cheese and hazelnut "crack balls" will completely blow you away. With goat cheese mixed with chocolate and hazelnut center, covered in a chocolate shell and rolled in chopped hazelnuts one bite and you will realize you have stepped into the mecca of cheese and chocolate pairing heaven.

Of course a good night out in NYC includes a great glass of wine. For those who enjoy a bold red the Matchbook is a particular favorite, and in my opinion you cant go wrong with the Prosecco. Caselulla is a must try for cheese lovers or those willing to try something fun and new.
