Licious Travels

Not everyone gets the opportunity to travel often so when they do the last thing they want to do is eat somewhere that is not up to par with the rest of the vacation. I have by no means been everywhere but the places I have been I have ensured to eat at incredible restaurants. So here I will share some of my traveling and eating adventures with you. Since I lived in Bermuda I will begin this section with a little bio of eating on this tropical island.

Blu (Belmont Hotel, Middle Road)

Blu is strategically placed on the famous golf course at the Belmont Hotel. It is known for its fine dining experience. The Sommelier will assist you in the most appropriate wine choice for the evening, do not be intimidated by his wine knowledge or "snobbery" he will also be your bus boy.  You will have a plethora of over priced options for your dinner choices as is the theme in the expensive island of Bermuda. The shrimp ceviche is a perfect start to your elegant evening. Ceviche is "cooked" in citrus juices and includes very fresh tasting herbs such as dill and cilantro added for a delicate flavor. For your entree the Mahi Mahi served over spinach risotto and covered in a pineapple chutney is a light healthy option. The Mahi is pan seared and perfectly flakey, the risotto has fresh spinach in every bite creamy and delicious. The mixture of the slightly bitter spinach and sweet pineapple evey bite is incredible. For a "manlier" entree the coffee rub filet is a rich and delicious option. Cooked medium rare and paired with a bold Cabernet Sauvignon. Perfectly crusted and seared a knife isn't needed for this steak. After you have had your fill of meat seafood and heavy red wines, you end your evening with the chocolate espresso martini made with Baileys Irish cream Godiva liqueur vodka and of course espresso. This night is a full 2.5 3 hour dinner so have your eating cap on and enjoy the romance of the island.
